KILMAINHAM JAIL
Built in 1796. Witness to Ireland's turbulent passage from the late eighteenth to early twentieth century. Prisoners from the United Irish Rebellion of 1796, the Emmet Rebellion of 1803, the Great Famine of 1845 to 1851, the Young Ireland Rebellion of 1848,  the Fenian Rebellion of 1867, the Land War of the 1880s, the Easter Rising of 1916, the War of Independence and the Irish Civil War were held and often executed here.  The jail is directly opposite the site of the proposed office block.

IRISH NATIONAL WAR MEMORIAL PARK
Designed by  Edward Lutyens, the gardens and park were laid out in the 1930s to commemorate the 49,500 Irish soldiers who died in the First World War. The Irish soldiers of the Second World War are also now remembered here annually each November on the anniversary of the Armistice
of 1918. The proposed block will be visible from the Park.

THE ROYAL HOSPITAL
Founded in 1684 and designed by William Robinson. The hospital's design is based on Les Invalides in Paris with which it shared the same function; a home for retired soldiers. The hospital now houses the Irish Museum of Modern Art.

KILMAINHAM COURTHOUSE
The courthouse was built in the early nineteenth century and is adjacent to the jail.

RICHMOND GUARD TOWER
The tower was built in 1811-12 on the south quays of the River Liffey. The tower was moved to it's present position in 1847. It originally stood on an avenue that ran from the Royal Barracks to the Royal Hospital. The tower is directly opposite the site of the proposed office block.
